We were in the car talking about something and he kept asking "why" and I answered with "that's what mommies do" and he responded with "like yelling?". We talked about it a little more and he's definitely associating yelling with his father too. I asked him why he thinks Daddy yells so much, and he answered "becuase I'm bad all the time, but Daddy really likes me". OMG. Something has to change. I don't want my child growing up with parents that just yell all the time!!!

Re: DS broke my heart tonight.
I am so with you. There was an article about yelling really being the new spanking.
I don't spank, but feel like yelling is sometimes just as bad. I just don't know how to get her attention sometimes.
Do you yell or do you raise your voice? There is a difference.
I have only "yelled" at ds a few times (I know more than 0 is too much, but.....). I do "raise my voice" quite often, but what else can you do if they are just plain ignoring you?
Well, to me......
Yelling = in his face, out of anger and totally completely frustrated.
Raising my voice = a tad louder than my normal voice, but still forceful enough to get his attention (not in his face).
