Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What happens at 7pm?

almost every night DD will have a full blown melt down!!!! Knowing this i started putting her down for her night nap by 6:30 but she wakes herself up has a meltdown and then i FINALLY get her back to sleep 20 min later!!! I know there is a "witching hour" but COME ON waking herself up at exactly 7 to FREAK out only to fall asleep?  Its like clockwork!!!

anybody else have this happen?  and is it possible for a 3 mo old to have a temper tantrum i mean a full on arms and legs flying, back arching trying to throw herself out of my arms screaming til she is bright red!!!!! i typically just have to hold her til she finally passes out... putting her down doesnt help, swing doesnt help, bouncy seat doesnt help.. just rocking her and takingthe blows to the face by her little fists!!!

  • Ugh!  That's hard.  :(

  • I have two things:

    1.  My DD does the exact same thing.  I started giving her baths later thinking that may help.  Nope.  Change the feeding routine.  Nope.  Naps maybe? Nope.  I can't figure it out.  There are no other words to describe her other than she gets pissed.  It takes a good half hour, and then she passes out (from exhaustion, I think!).

    2.  I just read your blog.  The staring contest pic cracks me up! The M & Ms are SUPER CUTE!

  • DS used to do this exactly at 4pm. And his would last sometimes until 8. I have no idea what was going on.

  • My DD has those tantrums, too! No, nothing helps but walking around with her. Thank God the other one is a boy and has no drama! lol

  • At least it's only 20 minutes... ours lasted 2 hours, starting at 11pm, until we figured out to take her out of the bedroom between 7 and 9 every morning, and take her out of the house at least once a day
  • Ds melts down at 7:15 so we started just putting him to bed. It has worked great but he gets up at 7 instead of 8 in the am
  • DD has been doing this when we try getting her to sleep.  She was going to sleep so easy the past few days until last night and it seems like she is having a tantrum.

w/ having two of them i am nervous to go out alone unless i have to but i think this might help!!! i was praying for nicer weather so i could start taking walks outside but then the blizzard from H$LL hit!!!! i want to do that mall walk ya know most malls are open early in the am for people to walk for exercise... corney but then i dont have to worry about being super embarrased if they have a meltdown and have strangers coming up to me asking if i need help (true story!!!)

boo to the blizzard!!! I hate winter... and I'm canadian, so that should be a contradiction, eh? Wink If you can, definitely go for a mall walk... you've got a double stroller, right? Do you have any friends that can go with you? That would be better than just going on your own... I know it helps Evs, cuz I had such a mobile lifestyle before her, so she was kinda used to it in utero, and then when she was born, it was drive here for this, go there for that... she wants to MOVE... and I think there's something about this house she doesn't like (methinks she senses the tension that's constantly in our house...) so we need to get out a lot...

  • so glad im not alone!! my lo gets a bath at 7pm....fully enjoys the bath. once he's getting dressed tho he goes completely bonkers!! he screams until about 730 when he eats and then goes to sleep. its the same thing every night. i think he just knows the day is coming to an end and he doesn't like it.
