Stroller recs for tall parents?

My husband is 6'4'' and I'm 5'10'', do you have any stroller recommendations for tall parents?  I really wanted a BOB but I've read that this isn't very tall-friendly.  We're planning on taking a trip to Buy Buy Baby to try out a few strollers for ourselves...any I should add to the top of my list?  TIA!

Re: Stroller recs for tall parents?

  • check the video reviews at babygizmo.com.  I swear I think either the bumbleride or the baby jogger city mini had telescoping handles to adjust for height.  Good luck!  We are opposites.  I'm a shortie and DH is very tall.  I'm trying to keep this in mind for him, as well.

  • Definitely try some out.  DH and I are taller than average (5'7 & 6') but not as tall as you and your DH, we had a hard time finding strollers that were comfortable for us.  We got the Graco Metrolite and it has an adjustable handle, we still have it in the highest position to be comfortable.

Definitely avoid Combi strollers, they are a Japanese company and they apparently size their strollers for an average height of 5'2.

  • Lots of brands have telescoping handles for taller parents.  Just try a bunch out and see which feels best.  You might need a wider wheelbase too since you are both tall, your less likely to kick the back tires while walking with a slightly wider wheelbase, just make sure it is not overly wide as you will have trouble through some doorways and aisles in stores.

  • Now granted we're kind of the extreme here (I'm 5'10" and DH is a whopping 6'8") and we're expecting twins. We tried out the Baby Jogger City Mini Double and we were both very comfortable with it. We are also considering the City Classic Double which even sits slightly higher I believe, and because it's a double, kicking the tires really isnt' too much of an issue.
  • We're 5'10 and 6'5. We like our Maclaren Techno but the Maclaren Quest was a good fit too. The Chicco Cortina was nice too.

  • We went with the Chicco Cortina - it has an adjustable handle bar and its angled so that when you push it, you dont kick the bottom basket.  We aren't quite as tall (5'8" and 6'0") but we are really happy with the 'tall friendly' set up of it.
  • the bugaboo chameleon has an adjustable handlebar - that's one of the reasons we're getting that one.

if you're going to buy buy baby, the salespeople there will be able to help (we went last week and spent over an hour trying out strollers and the salespeople were so helpful - it was fun!).

  • I'm 5'7" and my DH is 6'4" and we're having trouble with it too.

So far, I'm liking anything with a telescoping handles. The ones that swivel can sometimes get high enough... but a lot of the time they also end up putting DH so close to the stroller he can't take a normal step.

The Bugaboo and UppaBaby both have fantastic high handles. The Baby Joggers seemed ok, too, if I remember correctly.

  • My Dh is 6'2. He likes the chicco stroller we have because he can change the handle bar up to the highest level so it is easier for him. I like it on the middle level since im only 5'5.

Ditto the City Select, if you are planning on another child close in age it is a great option.  This stroller can be both a single or a double stroller, it is very cool.

  • We have a P&T's  but my friend (who is 6' and her husband who is about 6'7) they have a bob and love it.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • the bumbleride flyer works for all heights b/c the handle can go up.
  • Not as quite as tall as you...I am 5'8" and my DH is 6' and we have the bob...it is plenty comfy and I do not feel hunched over at all!

  • My husband and I are also going with the BOB.  I am 5'10" and he is 6'7".  The biggest problem that we had when trying out strollers was kicking the wheels or the basket.  The BOB sits up a little higher with large wheels and prevents that from happening.  My husband felt that the handle was fine for him.  Maybe not if he was jogging with it, but he doesn't foresee himself jogging with the stroller.

You really just have to go and try them all out.  It was an exhausting day, but we are glad we spent the time to try them.

  • Thanks everyone, I will be making a list with all of these recommendations so we can try them out this weekend!  I'm glad to hear that the BOB worked for other tall parents!
