Anyone know what this is?

After I eat I sometimes get really lightheaded and/or nauseous to the point where I have to sit or lie down. Especially if I do stairs or anything even semi-straining. I don't think I had this when I was pregnant with Alex and it's making me a little nervous. I'm worried that it may be GD or something to do with the way my body's processing sugars.

This morning I had plain conventional oatmeal with strawberries and honey and I felt like either barfing or passing out about 4 times between then and now (it's been about 2 hours since I ate).

Any ideas?

Re: Anyone know what this is?

  • Could be a combo of high sugar & high bp maybe ?

    Call the OB ok?  Please?

ETA  dai has a good point - queasy/sweaty/agitated/jittery is how I would get if I waited too long to eat and my sugar crashed.  Try snacking every 2 hours - but still call ;-)

if my sugar was too high I got kind of speedy, like I'd just used my asthma inhaler & needed to pace the room for a while.

  • Have you had your GD testing yet? That happened to me with DS2, but normally it would only happen if I waited too long to eat. I had to eat *before* I felt hungry or else it was too late. You might want to call your Dr though b/c my guess would be your blood sugar is changing too rapidly.
  • I'm supposed to go in for my 1 hour glucose test next week, but I could probably go in a little earlier if necessary.

    Yeah, this doesn't seem good.

ETA: This morning I got a migraine right after I got up, so I was VERY hungry by the time I ate. That might be part of it.

  • Yeah, I would definitely at least call.  That worries me.
