A cruel joke

I think life is playing a very mean trick on me. I just went back to work at the beginning of the month and was really enjoying being back. I felt like my life was getting back to normal and I was getting into a good routine. Then last week I starting having this awful pain in my back that just progressively got worse. I thought it was a pulled muscle, but when DH finally convinced me to go see a doctor on Saturday, it turns out that I have shingles!!! Apparently anyone who has had chicken pox can get shingles, but usually it happens later in life...unless you are immune compromised, under a lot of stress, etc. I guess I somehow fall into the "under a lot of stress" category, even though I was feeling the best I had since DS was born. So, here I am, in bed and having to call into work already. Good thing my work is understanding because I feel like I have a big "L" on my forehead. Now, fingers crossed DS doesn't get chicken pox from me....yikes!

That is terrible. I am so sorry!

So, here is a question. Can you get shingles more than once or are they like the chicken pox?

Only once, thank God! And I forgot to add that I can't take anything to help me feel better because of breast feeding!

So sorry to hear this! My sister had shingles last year and I felt sooo bad for her. I hope you have a much faster recovery than she did.
