I was given a glider for free, but the cushion covers on it are faded and worn. I would like to just order a new set of slipcovers but am having trouble finding any. Does anyone know where I can shop for (either in person or online) a new set of slipcovers for a glider and ottoman?
Thanks in advance!
Re: slipcovers for glider cushions?
I've never seen slipcovers for a glider, but I redid mine, which I had purchased at a yard sale. If you are somewhat crafty, you could easily do the same.
It was pretty easy to recover, I just bought some nice cuddly fabric that matched the nursery, traced the cushions on the underside of it, and basically made pockets that fit around the contours of the cushions. Its like making a pillowcase but you have to be really exact about the size and shape. Pin the fabric and test it first. I also added additional new foam from the craft store because the foam was a bit worn. For the ottoman, the fabric was stapled on there and I removed it with a flat head screwdriver and used a staple gun to do the new fabric. Also, I just hot glued the end seam shut because once the fabric was on the cushion, I couldn't use the sewing machine. You can find better instructions online, but thats basically what I did. Also, start soon if you plan to do it because I ended up trying to finish this project in my 8th month and it was not as fun as when I had started in month 6!
