Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Is this going to bite me in the ass?

I figure you ladies had more experience with separation anxiety...

DH and I are going on vacation for 5 days at the beginning of April.  We've left DD for weekends 3-4 times since she;s been born and she's been fine. She'll be at our house with the ILs, who she knows and loves.

I'm not worried about leaving her, but I am concerned about SA when we get back.  Does anyone have any experience with leaving their LO at prime SA time for a few days?  How was the transition back? Any tips?

Thanks!

  • We left ds right around his first birthday for a week and he did great.  I really dont think he noticed we were gone:)

  • We have not left DS for longer than a day and he as always been fine.

But my Mom always likes to tell me that when they left me and my sis at her parents to go to a wedding when I was about 18 months.....I didn't want anything to do with them when they came back.  She said it seemed like I was mad at them for leaving me.  ;)

  • She'll be about 13 months?  I think you will probably good.  D didn't really start getting all crazy w/ SA until just a couple weeks ago, and I know that we have had multiple friends that have said that it started around 15 months for them as well.  Good luck!
  • I left DS for 4 days on a business trip at round 14 months.  He did fine and doesn't to be anymore or less concern now when I leave him to go to work for the day or whatever.
