22-24m still not using fork/spoon, any others?

DS is not the best eater, he's picky and  some days it's a struggle to get him to eat.  He'd rather play. 

So I have not really let him experiment with utensils because my main concern is him eating.  The times he has tried a fork or spoon 1/2 of it does not get in his mouth.  Since he's on the skinny side I've just been worried about him getting enough so I feed him daily.

Now that he's be 2 in April I'm starting to think he may be really behind on the self feeding.

Are there any other 22-24m LO's still not using utensils?

Do I just need to stop worrying about him eating enough & let him go at it every day, even if he only eats 1/2 of his meal?

I give it to her, but it usually ends up on the floor. It's not something I'm worried about. If she's 5 and eating with her fingers, but EATING, I'll consider it a win! She doesn't eat either, so I'm definitely not worried about utensil skills.

Using utensils is a learned skill, and you need to give him the opportunity to learn. I understand your frustration with having a picky eater who is also a small kid (I've got two of them LOL!) but using a fork or spoon isnt going to make him eat less. If he's hungry, he'll eat. It'll be messy at first and it'll take longer and he will still use his fingers for a while (my 2 year old still does and he's had utensils for a year), but right now, he's losing out on developing his fine motor skills and hand/eye/mouth coordination that he needs. DS1 hasn't been using utensils all that long and he doesn't get them at EVERY meal (I try for 1 or 2 meals a day).  While they learn utensils they are going to get a bunch of it down their fronts.  Just something you'll have to deal with (hard for me). I found Pasta Pick Ups to be a great food to practice using a fork with.  Do thicker stuff for spoons.

You could try those Bender utensils by Boon to start out with.
