Moms that use DC

What time do you have to drop your little ones off? I am searching for a job but the only thing I am finding is overnights, but then DH would have to drop DD off at dc at 6am the thought of that makes me tear up. I would pick her up around 4.

or

I could have a high schoooler or college student or retired lady come to my house at 6 am and then be with DD until I get home around 8 and then take her to daycare. Thoughts on all this? I would find someone from a local church. But then I would pick her up more like 5 because that doesnt let me go to sleep till closer till 9.

Re: Moms that use DC

  • Our daycare center is open from 6am- 6 pm. I drop DD off at 7 and pick her up around 4:30. Most centers in our area are open those hours as well.

  • We drop D off around 6:45 each morning (most daycares around here don't open until 6:30).  His technical schedule at the daycare is 6:30-4, but we are always running a little late.  This is the time that works best for us because DH leaves for work around 6:30 and will be taking D in while I'm on maternity leave and watching the new baby.  Depending on the day and how DH's job is going, either one of us will pick him up (we usually end up going there by 3:30, but 4 is the latest).

We are lucky though, because D is an early riser - so he's up by 6 at the very latest anyway.  It makes it a lot easier to drop him off that early.  Plus, there are already 2 little guys D's age there when we get there each morning, so I don't feel as bad knowing that he has "friends" there when he gets there.

  • Most are open 6a-6pm.  I know a lot of teachers drop off around 6:30ish and pick up around 4pm.  I drop at 8am and pick up at 5:30--2 days a week.

  • My DS is in daycare from about 8:15AM - 5PM.  Our daycare is open starting at 6AM, but I think most of the kids that arrive early are picked up pretty early (like 2 or 3).

I think it would probably be easier on your DD to have someone watch her in your home for a few hours and then take her to daycare from 8-5.  This way you don't have to disrupt her sleep schedule (assuming she sleeps past 6AM).

  • I usually drop them off around 8am, and pick them up at 5-6pm (unless DH gets off earlier).

There are a set of twins in DS's class who get there early (around 6).  The kids are happy and thriving.  They take morning naps and afternoon naps, while everyone else just takes an afternoon nap.

I am sure that you will do what is right for you.  Good luck!

  • Sorry forgot to put all centers in our area dont open till 630. I cant find a single one except in home dayscares
