Babies: 9 - 12 Months

XP: Solids Poll

I know this is asked a lot (sorry!) and it's something I need to discuss with our pedi, but I just was curious as to when your LO's were started on solids. We're getting close to 4 months and I plan to ask at her next appointment. DD is mostly FF with some EBM thrown in for good measure. I'm sure there are a million reasons why you chose when you did, but I'm just looking for the basics. Thanks!

Re: XP: Solids Poll

  • DD I tried at 4 months but she was clearly not interested. She wasn't into it until around 6 months.

DS, I tried at 4 months too and he gobbled it up. He was clearly ready and is now on 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, and has basically dropped the bottle except before bed.

  • We started 1 tbs of rice cereal once a day at 5-1/2 mo so at his 6 mo appt I could at least tell the pedi how that was going. She then suggested oatmeal for a week and then barley for a week before moving on to purees.

    GL!

  • I started rice cereal at 4 months.  E loved it!  We ended up taking a 2 week break b/c of constipation and then switched to oatmeal.  We introduced purees at 5 months and haven't looked back.  He's a champion eater!
  • We started rice cereal in the bottle at night to help with reflux about a month ago. This morning I gave him his first cereal from a spoon, but he still seemed to prefer the bottle.
