Would I be a bad mom if I made Jackson wear this?

For Easter:

image

I would get a plain navy tie, b/c I don't care for the frog one.

or should I do this:

w/ a white button down and this tie:

And maybe the matching seersucker vest?

Re: Would I be a bad mom if I made Jackson wear this?

  • I would have to see him in it. It "could" be really cute.. or really uhm..sissy like!
  • I'm a sucker for a boy in a vest.  I like the pants better than the shorts too!
  • Loading the player...
  • I should probably go w/ option #2... he's also going to wear whatever I buy to my brother's RD.

  • I love the polka dot tie.

And I would totally do that to Will.

  • Is there a 3rd option?  Definite no to #1.  And then white pants?  image

  • I like the pants better for sure but then again...

I need help with boy clothes big time. I want to match M's Easter dress which is pink.  Any ideas?

  • #1 is lame.

  • I would definitely do that for Ethan--I love him in white pants or seersucker. I love all of it. Is it crewcuts?
  • Well, I love the jacket, green shirt and even the frog tie. I'm not a fan however of all of that paired with shorts, but with slacks I would love it.

  • #1 is NMS.  The jacket's not awful, but the shorts certainly are.

I like #2.  A lot.  H would never let me do that to either of our sons, but I think the whole get-up (with the vest, of course) is adorable.

  • the top outfit is J&J - they have a "sneak peak" on facebook.

The seersucker, tie, vest are Crewcuts... I'm leaning that way.

  • Ethan has to have seersucker every year. It's my favorite thing on boys ever.

You could always do khakis, white button down, pink tie.  I'm not above pink for Jackson, haha!

zenya - the pants are blue/white striped seersucker, not white.  Unless you mean the top outfit, and those are shorts, sort of like an Eton suit.  And they are white.

me too!  I am straight up obsessed w/ seersucker.  It's adorable!

  • Am I the only one who doesn't see the picture of the seersucker vest? I see 2 pictures of the same tie. Confused

  • I felt that way about seersucker on Will, until I did madras on him last year.  We will totally be doing madras again this year.

Now my husband?  He looks hawt in seersucker.

  • I like option 2. The jacket is cute, but I love the polka dot tie and I think it would cute with the seersucker pants.
  • hmm, let me try the vest again

  • oh, E!  I really want to like it.  It's not my style at all, so maybe that's why I am not digging it.

I see it now - I looked on jcrew.com.  It's hard to see in the pic you posted.

I like seersucker dresses on girls but I have different taste in boys clothes.

  • I do love seersucker on little boys and that vest is supah cute, but I still really love the jacket.

  • Neither outfit is my style, but I prefer the second one. The first one is too twee for me, but I feel that way about most J&J stuff, so it's probably just me.

I LOVE the seersucker pants, but probably without a tie at all and maybe without the vest, just a plain button down.  Too casual?

LOL, breezee - that's okay!  I still love you.  :)

It's all quite southern, I think.  Plus I would probably still put Jackson in jon-jons or longalls if MH wouldn't have a cow.

I'm leaning towards the seersucker pants; I think he'd get more use out of that - he is in my bro's wedding this summer so we have the RD and then my other brother is getting married in May and he'll need something for that (casual outdoor wedding).

J&J has a cute pink tie in their special occasions section J:) - as eclaires said, khakki's, white shirt, tie - adorable :)

Ok, good=P  Totally southern, I can see that.  I could never do jon-jons, but Kate will rock smocked tops/dresses and big hair bows this summer ;)  My Grandma is southern and about died when I refused to put J in jon-jons.

  • I like the first one better. I think he could totally pull it off. White pants would be more practical than shorts though. Actually, maybe I'd do kahki pants. White pants scream disaster and stains to me.

    I don't really like vests.

  • I really want that jacket; maybe I need both.  I'd probably consider khaki pants w/ the jacket just b/c it'll probably be cool in April in Indiana.

Breezee - FOR SHAME, no jon jons?!?!!  LOL... MH hates them.  I only got away with them until Jackson was 1.  ::tears::

I almost wish I had my kids closer together so I could either put two boys in jon jons or my daughter in a smocked dress, and son in a jon jon.

I know, right? =P  My grandma was ashamed.  I have since redeemed myself with the smocked dresses.

  • A.) what are jon jons?

B.) I dont' want to unleash the wrath of pregnant Eclaires, but I don't dig it.  It's so old-man.  I am not a fan of little boys looking like old men. LOL

But I'm not Southern, nor do I celebrate Easter, so honestly my opinion means absolutely nothing here and I know it.  LOL

I'm not from the south and I love seersucker and jon-jon's! Can I blame it on the fact that my Dad's family is from the south? Maybe it's genetic Big Smile

  • I'll be an enabler and tell you to get both :)

Ethan loves that stuff and would get a lot of use out of it. For the past 2 years when he really had an opinion on what he wore, he wore his seersucker pants non-stop, and wears white pants a lot in the summer (so white shorts could get a lot of use, too). It would be easy to find casual shirts to match the pants and/or shorts.

  • Yay for enablers!

SBDC - this is a jon jon, modeled by Jackson for his very first Easter:

    there are also smocked versions:

  • I miss jon-jons. Ethan only wore them the summer he was 3-5 months old. He was in 3t by the summer when he was 15-18 months old! I always wanted another boy for the clothing aspect of it. I love boy clothes far more than girl clothes! There aren't as many options as they get bigger, though.
  • aaah, so it's just a one piece outfit?  Ethan wore those until about 15 months, but after that I thought they were too baby-ish on him.  Do Southern boys wear them longer?

My kid must be a fashion disaster.  I rarely ever even put him in a button down shirt, nevermind a vest and tie!

  • They go up to size 5, sometimes higher, so yes.  :)

MH put the big no on them after age 1.  So sad...

Our Easter and Christmas events pretty much require a tie, or something similarly dressy.  For Easter, we go to church (most men wear suit/tie) and then to brunch at my grandparents' country club.

Although I do put J in stuff like this on occasion, even for every day wear, just b/c I like it:

  • I just can't see myself putting a tie on a kid. Hell, the absolute only time I've ever even seen my dh in a tie has been when he's going on a job interview, LOL.

Then again, I can't ever imagine putting my kid in a jon-jon and knee socks either (shudder!) or an argyle vest so I imagine that we've probably got completely different tastes in clothing. ;-)
