NTR - cost to renovate bathroom

Has anyone renovated a small 3-piece bathroom?  Regular tub, pedestal sink, and toilet.  We'd probably buy a tub liner rather than replacing the tub.  New sink and toilet.  Either new tile floor and walls or reglazing of existing tile.  About how much did it cost?

  • I redid the bathroom in my old house. Total cost was around $1500 because we did all but the plumbing ourselves. Cost included new drywall and subfloor, new plumbing, new electric and light fixtures, new tile floor, tub and shower surround, new pedestal sink and then paint and decor.

  • What's the size of the room for the tile and walls?  Would you replace the pedestal sink with a cabinet or with a new pedestal?

I actually don't know the exact size.  The room is probably not much longer than the tub.  There's a tub on one side, toilet and sink on the other, and that's the whole room.  It's small.  We'd get another pedestal sink because of the lack of floor space - I think a cabinet sink would make the room feel cramped.

  • We just redid one of our bathrooms, we replaced the toilet, vanity, faucet, light fixtures, medicine cabinet and the floors, basically everything but the tub liner. We did everything ourselves and it cost us about $800.

I think you could do it for about $2K... less if you're going to do the tile work yourself.  If you hire someone for the tiling, maybe a bit more.

  • We're finishing our basement right now, but our next project is the kitchen/main floor bathroom. We had our GC take a look at the bathroom to get a general idea of what that will cost. That bathroom sounds similar to yours, it's the length of the tub with a sink and toilet. We're going to replace everything, including tiling the shower, and will be providing the fixtures ourselves. It's $250 for the new sink (Kohler Bancroft), $300 for the toilet (Kohler), going to put in an antique clawfoot tub (around $800-1000 on CL), $550 for the tub/shower faucets/etc, $250 for the sink faucet, $250 for the new medicine cabinet, $100 for the new lighting fixture, and another $150 for tp holder/towel bars. The floor tile we're using is $50 per case, which covers 11 sq ft. The wall tile is 24 cents each, and takes 8 to cover 1 sq ft. Plus drywall, a couple of gallons of paint, and a little bit of floor board molding. And labor.

All told, I'm budgeting 5k. I hope it will come in less, but I'd prefer to be pleasantly surprised :)
