Terrible news :(

We had our "6 week appointment" today. Fetus measured 5w3d but had no heartbeat. We will be waiting for nature to take its course. Please pass the news on to daytime ladies tomorrow. I will not be on here for a bit. Thanks, ladies, for your support. DH and I are a mess right now.

I am very sorry for your loss- but do know from my previous loss and the precautions with B's pg- a heartbeat before 6 weeks is rare and when we saw one at 5 wk 6 days they were happily surprised b/c it was so early and it is the 6 week mark they expect to see one.

I know how hard it is and again am so sorry

I'm sorry. I've been there. But is there any chance you are just a few days off? If you really are 5w3d there wouldn't be a HB yet. I wouldn't give up yet.

Thanks, I should have been about 6w3d so I can still hope for the best but ob said m/c..although, my LO's h/b was only 98 at about the same point (6 w and a few days) last time and we had such a scare, so you never do know.

this is what i was thinking, erino&chrish. i haven't heard of them expecting to see a hb that early.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Sad How are you determining how far along you are? Were you charting? If you weren't it's totally possible to be off by a few days (most women don't have perfect 28 day cycles) and like the pp have said, no hb before 6 weeks is pretty common. My Dr. wouldn't do an u/s until 8 weeks with DS just so we wouldn't have a scare in case there was no hb.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I'm sorry for your loss. Is it regular for you to get an u/s at the first appointment? I had to wait a few weeks.

As PP's have said, I didn't think they would be able to see a HB so early, just a fetal pole at best. Is there a reason your doc gave you an u/s so early? Were you having previous complications?

I'm crossing my fingers that it is just a misunderstanding on the doctors part.

I'm so sorry

I'm really hoping your dates are just off a bit. We went in for what was supposed to be a 6 week appt last Monday and had a sac and fetal pole but no heartbeat. Came back today and was measuring 6w4d and had a good normal HB with a perfect looking bean. It turns out that since I was still BF and pumping, I ovulated about a week later (all 3 US I've had have measured consistently a week behind where I thought I was).

Either way, e-hugs to you. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
