Does your LO only cry in the car when its dark out?

My DD is fine in the car during the day but as soon as night hits she freaks!  I don't understand it.  She doesn't sleep with a nightlight.  Does anyone have suggestions?  I would love to be able to leave the house at night with her.  Thanks

  • bloody murder!!  I plan our trips around this and if someone is able to sit in the back seat with her.

I'm interested to see the responses cause if I have to, we play roll the window up and roll the window down many many times.

  • We had the same problem, but the more I do it with her the better she gets.  For a while one of us would sit in the back with her, now she is fine and will just go to sleep usually.  Try doing a couple of runs with someone sitting in the back with her.

  • Sitting in the back with her does nothing to ease her fear.  I am laughing at the thought of the window game haha I would be willing to try that however it is mighty cold in Maine right now. Maybe Ill just have to keep doing the night driving til she gets used to it.  I was thinking of getting her a glow worm for the car HAHA
  • No.  Opposite actually.  He sleeps in the car at night...but during the day (when the sun is shining mainly), he screams bloody murder.  He HATES for the sun to be in his face.  We even have one of those shades...doesn't work.

  • Do you have a seahorse or something that will stay lit up for a long time? Maybe that would help?

this.  she HATES the car when it's dark.  but we bring the FP seahorse and it helps immensely.

  • I should also add that nothing seems to help. We have tried his seahorse, various flashlights, lovies, singing, you name it. We can't mess with the windows because, hello it's winter in Canada and we would all freeze. I wish I knew the answer.

  • I was hoping someone would have the magic trick shucks
