How Often Do You Go For Your Annual

Yes I know the heading is strange but I had my annual GYN check-up today.  When I had my PP follow-up they told me to see them again 6 months later and today they told me that since I am on the pill (and have been since August) that I need to see them every 6 months.  I was a little confused since before I had DD I was on the pill and only had 1 annual. 

Anyone else experience this?  I guess it is not my annual anymore.  Great 2 days out of the year that I won't look forward to.

After my 6 week pp visit, they said they didn't need to see me again for a year.

I'm on the pill and haven't been since April.  I go again in April this year.

Annually! But when I was on the pill, they made me go in every six months for a blood pressure check. It was just a quick visit, no exam or anything. I don't think I even saw a doctor.

I have been on the pill since I was 17 years old, and got off when we wanted to TTC. When I was on the pill, I went once a year- I would go in april. One year, it was easier for me to go the end of march and the dr office wouldnt see me b/c insurance would not pay for it if it was less than a year in between the appt.

BCPs do carry an increased risk of stroke.  The risk increases if you have high blood pressure or smoke (or if you're over 35).  If you have one of those risk factors, I could see them wanting to see you every 6 months.  I have been on BCP for 15 years and have never had to go more than once per year.  But I don't smoke and have never had high blood pressure.

This. And it doesn't matter if I'm on the pill or not. An annual is just that at my OB -- annually.
