For those who serve oatmeal to LO (not baby oatmeal)

Do you grind up the oats before you serve it or leave it alone?

  • I use steel cut oatmeal and grind it up

  • I use instant out of a pack.  I make it with applesauce instead of water or milk, but that is the only thing I do differently.  He loves it.

Do you just add the applesauce and microwave it?

  • Yep, just use 2/3 cup apple sauce or whatever it says instead of water and microwave, so he gets a fruit and it has a natural sweetener, though I give him the flavored ones often, since that is what DD and I eat and we run out of one or the other.  I make all of ours with apple sauce.  It is yummy.
  • I just make two servings of the Old Fashioned Quaker Oats-one for me and one for my son. I add frozen blueberries to his (and chocolate chips to mine).

  • I make steel cut oats, but don't grind them.  I make it how I would normally make it for me and then take a few tablespoons out and mix it with applesauce.
