Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Seperation Anxiety- has your LO experienced it yet?

DS wants me to hold him all the time and screams when I leave the room or even go behind the shower curtain. This is a new development... has been happening for 6 days now.

Someone tell me this will end soon.

  • It lasted a week with us. It will get better! GL

  • My LO has had SA since about 4.5mos and it progressively got worse through 7.75mos.  Only recently has it begun to calm a bit.  Of course, our dr. told we have a "severe case" of SA caused by a "cognitively advanced" child.  Ugh.  It's frustrating.  I don't have any advice - only writing to let you know I understand where you're coming from.
  • Hasn't happened with us yet.  It kind of makes me sad, like he doesn't care who is taking care of him Huh?

  • this is where we are now. we were snowed in together and sick for almost 3 weeks...so I think its all sort of relative. DS went to daycare today and didnt freak when we left.

Don't worry... you aren't missing out.  It feels good to be loved, don't get me wrong... but I don't like being the ONLY one DS wants.  It is exhausting and it hurts other people's feelings... particularly DH.

  • Yes, DS crawled to the front door, banged on it and cried when MH & I left him with BIL the other day,
  • My LO has yet to experience it.  I've wondered if he will since we have been having him be babysat about once a month since he was born, as well as in a "New Mom's" group, playgroup, and swimming class so he is used to other people being around him.
  • yes! he will let other people hold him, but if he sees me he will cry. I am also showering in the guest bathroom this week (since DH is on overnight shifts and our bathroom is in our bedroom) and this shower has a curtain and LO freaked out when i was in there. I stuck my hand out and waved at him and it made it worse..lol..poor guy
