Pregnant after a Loss

Swimming = bliss!

So, DH and I finally decided to get off our lazy bums and get a YMCA membership so we could use the pool.  The weather has been so crappy here that I haven't even been walking like I usually do (we've literally had a foot or more of snow on the ground continuously since before Christmas, and it's rarely above freezing!  It's unreal!)

We went for about 30 min. Sat. and today, and it's amazing how good I feel!  It made my sore back and hip feel sooooooooooooo much better.  I don't do anything too exciting (actually, it's kind of funny - I'll do a lap, and then rest while I do 20 kegels, so I'm multi-tasking - I've done 150 today!)

Also, I thought I'd feel self-conscious, but it turns out if you're the pg lady getting in the pool, no one judges you.  I think they're all just impressed that I can find a swimsuit to fit me, and that I'm even trying to get some exercise.  No need to try to look like a female Michael Phelps!  Now after the baby comes, it could be another story....

Re: Swimming = bliss!

  • I swam all the time with I was pg with dd.  You are right, it feels AMAZING.  The weight is lifted off your belly - so your back feels a lot better.  You can move around better and your pelvic bone feels a TON better!  It's just great to have all the pressure off your body!

    We have a pool, and I was due with dd in July, so from Memorial Day until she was born, I'd come home from work and spend at least an hour a day in the pool.  Not doing a whole lot, just floating mostly, and it felt so great!  I miss it this time around!
