Organic milk [clicky]

Just curious.  I am a bit freaked out about the rBGH in dairy.

  • I answered Organic, since that's what I buy for DS, but he gets non-organic at day care.

  • I chose organic, but we do "natural" milk.  It is hormone free, which is what I am looking for.  Luckily she is on 1% so well all drink it too.
  • I said regular, but there is a label on the milk that says the farmers pledge not to use artificial growth hormones.

  • If it is just rBGH that is causing concern for you.  Check your local and state regulations.  It is against the law in Michigan to use growth hormones in dairy products.  This doesn't apply to dairy products from other states sold here.

I still buy Organic for DS because my issues with dairy go beyond the hormone issue.

  • I chose regular, but only because our local grocer switched to hormone-free milk about a year ago. Otherwise I would probably go for organic.
  • we get our milk from a local farm.  the cows are fed with organic feed and it's anti-biotic and hormone free.  if we have to buy milk or any dairy from a store we usually get organic b/c they only offer hormone free but not antibiotic free.

  • We buy hormone free at Meijer.  Not organic, but it's something!
  • SS - raw milk, straight from the cow.

When I buy it at the store though, I buy non-organic that does not contain antibiotics or hormones.  I refuse to drink ultra-pasteurized milk and that is what most organic brands are.

  • I used to buy organic until I realized that the milk at Costco and the grocery store states that it's hormone-free, so we switched to regular milk.
  • If I could afford ot, we would eat 100% organic everything.  But I can't, so the least I can do is give DS organic milk.
