i was just wondering why this is.  my ds has only had a diaper rash once when he was on antibiotics and the desitin knocked it right out.  i have used other things, but desitin has always worked amazingly well.  just wondering why you don't recommend it.  thanks!

It's not bad, but it does have these ingrediants:

The ingredients in Desitin are: Zinc oxide 40%, BHA, Cod Liver Oil, Fragrance, Lanolin, Methylparaben, Petrolatum, Talc. 

 "Fragrance" is one of the top 29 most common skin allergies and can further irritate diaper rashes. And some will argue that BHA can cause cancer.

 

Aquaphor is just vaseline / petrolatum which creates a nice barrier with no harmful / irritating chemicals.

ditto - I prefer more natural ingredients on DD, but that's true in our house overall. like, we try to avoid petroleum products, sulfates, fragrance, etc.

I like California Baby and Weleda Baby products, and Burt's Bees, too.
