Hi all,
A quick intro - my name is Melinda. I mostly lurk on some of the other boards but I have a question for you
ladies over here. I had surgery to remove an ectopic in my right tube
about 2 weeks ago. Fortunately, my dr. was able to save the tube. My
F/U appointment is on Wednesday so I haven't gotten to discuss
everything with him just yet but I've been doing some reading. For
those of you that experienced an ectopic, how long did you wait before
TTC again (and was it after laparoscopy or the shot)? How long after
starting TTC did it take you to get pregnant? Have any of you had more
than 1 ectopic? Needless to say, I'm very scared but terribly anxious
to start TTC again...I always appreciate hearing others' stories (even those that
aren't as uplifting as others).
Re: Success after an ectopic?
hi Melinda,
I am butting in from PAL. First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic in December 08. I had the lap surgery and my doctor was also able to save my tube. We were told to wait 1-2 cycles. We waited 2 and I got pg the first time trying again. I went into labor with Zachary 11 months to the day of my surgery for my ectopic...GL to you!!!

i'm very sorry for your loss. my 2nd m/c was ectopic in april, i lost the left tube and had lap surgery to "fix" it. you can read all the details here if you have time.I was told to wait 1 cycle before TTC. I went on to get pg again 5 months (sept) later and then again in Dec, my 2 consecutive losses were because of MTHFR and had nothing to do with the loss of the tube. I started treatment for this and in may i conceived my LO who as you can see is here and healthy thank God.
I know its easier said than done but don't loose faith.

Hi, also butting in from PAL. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember how scared I was after my ectopic. Let me say that I did what other people recommended and took some time to be with DH, go to dinner, the movies, get massages to take some time for us. It helped us heal together because I had kind of forgotten he was grieving too. I was just thinking about myself and healing from surgery. Just take as long as you need. ((Hugs))
I had my ectopic in July 2008. I had lap surgery, and the doc removed one of my tubes. I got my first AF about 45 days after surgery, and we waited until the doc said it was ok to TTC again (I can't remember how long, sorry). We TTC almost every month, except I took off December for a break. I was charting and using OPKs mainly. One month I took my temp every day, but that didn't do anything more than make me crazy! Finally, that next April 2009 I got my BFP, and our daughter was born this past December 2009. So it took me about 7 months to TTC. This was my only ectopic, and my second pregnancy gave us our little girl.
It is certainly possible to have a successful pregnancy especially since you have both tubes. I hope this helps ease your mind. Feel free to ask me any more questions over on PAL. We are all here for you.
From PAL also... I had a ruptured ectopic back in Nov. '07 (hard to think it was that long ago, still seems like yesterday!) and had to have emergency surgery. Unfortunately, they were not able to save my tube. I had an HSG to make sure my remaining tube wasn't blocked. After the HSG, I got pg again right away- unfortunately that was a missed m/c, but the two losses had nothing to do with one another. It was a full year before I got pg again, but I was also dealing with PCOS and annovulatory cycles. But it was all worth it once I got to meet my sweet DD.
GL when you start to TTC again, and hopefully you'll be joining us over on PAL soon!
HI!
sorry to hear of your ectopic. I know it's so scary. I had one in may and it ruptured, losing my left tube. I waited a month or two to TTC again... and i am 6 weeks pregnant right now!
i was scared too. Best wishes!!!!!
