I was wondering what those of you whom work pt do, as in what is your career? I am a teacher and wish I cold go part time when a LO enters our lives, but can't think of a way to do it as a teacher. Any ideas? Plus I'm just plain curious as to what is out there pt. Thanks so much for your advice and ideas.

half the teachers in my district (okay..that's an exaggeration...but it's a lot) are part time. I teach hs so they work either the first half or second half of the day. Honestly, it doesn't seem like it's worth it to me because they end up missing their prep period and, in most cases, would only need to teach one more class to be full time.
teaching full time and being a mom isn't that bad! Don't stress!
This! Teaching is very family friendly.
I am a physical therapist that works for a school system. I work in early intervention, and work with special ed teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and paraeducators. There are 65 women (and one man!) in my office, and I would say only 20% of us are full-time. Everyone else works either 3 or 4 days a week. So, if you are a teacher, could you get your special ed certification? If your district works like mine, your pay grade gets increased if you further your education, and they reimburse up to nine graduate credits per year to help you continue your education. It seems like if someone has more specialized training, they have an easier time going part-time. Just a thought. GL!
