Re: MrsTony

  • Hi,

Getting there.  He's been a bit grumpy today! So that has been hard. I have a few things left to do like put ribbons on the pops but not much.  I can't believe it's already here!!

In the midst of all this MH is sick with what he thinks is food poisoning so he is out of commission and is miserable. You know how guys are when they are "sick". So annoying!!

Thanks for checking in! I promise pics after the party.

  • Hi gals,

Sorry to bust in on your post, but I was going to page both of you and here you both are!  You both replied to my post about ZOOM teeth whitening and I had a quick question for you.  I also posted about it on the Fashion & Beauty board and got a few replies about how bad it hurt.  Did either of you experience pain during the process?  A few girls even said that due to the pain alone they would never do it again.  I have a pretty high tolerance to pain (I think anyway...pushed out two kids!) but I wasn't expecting teeth whitening to be painful.  Let me know.  Thanks!

  • They said that? Really?  Well, I would say you have your mouth open for awhile. 15 minutes per session with the lights and there is a rubber dam in your mouth.  The one thing that happened with me was some of the chemical got on my lip and my niece didn't realize it. So I ended up with a swollen lip. It lasted for like a day but didn't hurt. Then I would just say I had some teeth sensitivity for a day or two and some sensitivity on the bottom inner side of my lip.  That being said, I would totally do it again and I was very happy with the result.

I think Jodi will be able to answer any more questions as she is in this field and I am more of a beginner to the whole thing. Good luck!!

  • Yes, 2 girls said it hurt...one even crying???

"i felt occasional needlepin feelings in my gums throughout the time they did it and for the next few hours"

"I did it and I will never do it again.  My teeth hurt so badly throughout the process that I was crying.  I was getting these weird shooting pains almost the entire time that was caused by the bleaching gel, and I just sat through it because I thought that was what was supposed to happen.  Never again.  It didn't seem to drastically brighten my teeth, either."

  • I don't know about the needle pain but occassionally I felt some sensitivity on my teeth but it would come and go quickly.

  • I hope he's feeling better, C!  Just what you need this weekend-three sick kids!

As for the whitening, I have never had anyone have anything that I would call pain from it.  Sensitivity, yes, but definitely not pain.  That said, we used to have a second office that used a different whitening system than what we use now (we do Zoom 2) and with that system (Sapphire), there were several people that had definite, horrible pain.

Do you have any sensitivity now?  If so, that will increase your chances for postoperative sensitivity.  I have zero sensitivity and after I did it, I would get an occassional zing for the next 12 hours, but it wasn't painful.  You can also do fluoride rinses before and right after whitening and that will help decrease any sensitivity you experience.

I would ask you dentist what their patient's experiences have been with sensitivity and if they can prescibe you a fluoride rinse to use before doing the procedure if you're nervous about it.

    Hope that helps some!
