Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Did anyone here have and external version done?

Posted this on 3rd tri. but thought this is prob the more appropriate place to put it if I want more input.

I know that I still have time for my TRANSVERSE (not even butt down) baby to turn but want to prepare myself and try to do some things to get him moving into a vertical position. I have been on spinningbabies.com and have been doing just about everything with my butt in the air and so far No so just incase I do need to have an external version I was hoping someone could fill me in on how it goes and what to expect! TIA!

  • I had it done at 40 weeks.  I think they have to wait until you are closer to term to do it.  She was frank breech and while the ECV was successful in turning her I don't think since it was done so late she ever really got into position and I ended up with a C-section as she was presenting brow or face first.  As for the procedure it is painful but only lasts 3-5 minutes.  Also there is a real chance that LO could go into stress so they will need to make sure an operating room is prepped and ready.  Vivian's heart rate dropped for about 1 minute and then went back to normal.  I was monitored for about an hour afterwards.
