Gender wishes

In a year or two, we may consider domestic adoption (in Canada). If we state that we only want a girl, is this seriously frowned upon? I have always wanted to adopt at some point but I really strongly do not want a 3rd boy. Perhaps this is wrong but I'm sure there are plenty of girls that need good homes too! Will it hurt my chances? TIA

I think you just need to find an agency/facilitator/attorney that is willing to work with your request.

Our agency allows gender selection and has several families waiting for girls.  I agree with Fred, though - plan on a significantly longer wait because your profile (ethically) should only be shown to BM with known female-gender babies.  BM who haven't had an ultrasound or had one that was inconclusive won't be able to check you out.

Lovely to see that you have two little boys! ?If you are keen on a girl and want to increase your adoption options, you could do your homestudy & pride training with the private agency of your choosing, and when done bring that paperwork over to the local Children's Aid and get in their pool too, if you are open to that route. ?It doesn't work the other way though, as CAS owns any paper work you do with them, it can only be shared among gov't agencies.

Like pp mentioned, some agencies allow you to select, some don't. I don't know how true it is, but we have heard you also pay more to request a certain sex.
