DH is painting the nursery this weekend. We're planning to use a shade of green and then paint stripes in a clear coat that has more shine than the base color. If we use satin for the base, what should we use for the clear coat? Semi-gloss?
Any tips?
Thanks!
Re: Painting stripes
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

We painted the walls in a satin finish and then did the horizontal stipes in a semi-gloss of the same color. It is the perfect combination for what we were looking for, not to dramatic but enough to be able to notice the stripes. Good luck and if doing horizontial stripes I strongly recommend an electronic laser level. We used on by robi, which sticks to the wall and was only about $20 from Home Depot.
I haven't started the stripes yet, but we went with the same color green paint, base color in egg shell and the stripe in high gloss. I am hoping for an obvious glossy stripe.
This is not my nursery (although it is absolutely adorable), but here is the effect I am going for.
