A couple with their three little children (like 4, 2, newborn ish). They were in a little two door car and hit a fire hydrant while trying to avoid a big pick-up truck that cut them off. I pulled over and helped them (the car was smoking a bit at first and they didn't have a cell phone). I wish I had had a bigger car to put them in. It was freezing and the mom didn't even have a coat. I grabbed a blanket from the car to wrap around them until the emergency crews got there. I didn't 'really' see the accident, so we didn't stay as witnesses. I just felt so bad for the family.
The dad was PISSED off. He kept yelling and swearing at the guy who cut them off (he wasn't hit, but stopped anyways, which I thought was honorable). It was a good think that the truck driver kept his distance, because I think this guy would have beat the crap out of him if he had come any closer.
The kids didn't look hurt, but the mother was very shooken up and said her face felt numb where she got hit with the airbag. I hope she let the paramedics check her and the kids out. As I was leaving, she was telling the fire fighter that they were ok and didn't need help.
The father was going on and on about how the car was totaled and he wouldn't be able to get to work to support his family, so I'm guessing money was very tight. I hope they have insurance (not required here), since because they didn't hit the truck that cut them off I don't think his insurance will be required to pay. Also there was some significant property damage (the fire hydrant)
