DH's grandmother and mine both have first names beginning with an O, so if we ever have another DD, we've thought about trying to honor them with a fn or mn beg. with an O. The problem is that all the O names I like are too "matchy" or similar to DD's name (names like Omara and Ofelia).
I know I could just open a baby name book to the "O" section, but I'd love to hear names starting with an O that people actually like.
Re: Your favorite names beg. with an "O"
I've always loved Oksana. I also like Odessa.
Ornella ?
Octavia
Odela
ona
oneida
onella
osanna
Oneida was my grandmother's name! Do you actually like it? I get very strange reactions whenever I say her name.
I like these names.
Girl: Olivia, Olive, Odette, Ophelia, Opal.
Boy: Owen, Oliver, Otis, O'Brien.

Olga
Oriane
Odalis
Orsola
Otylia
I love the name Olivia for a girl.
I can't really think of too many "O" names... Ophelia, Onya, Olive...
i LOVE Olive!
here are some more:
Oakley
Odelia
Odella
Olga
Ollie
Omara
Opal
Orchid
Orion
Orli/Orly
I *love* the name Olive. Olivia is really popular right now.
And one more thing--Isn't the correct spelling Ophelia? Ofelia seems completely wrong.
LOL@Oprah... That was my first thought!
The ones that popped in my head first were Olivia, Olive, and Orla.
I like the name Opal
I'm also a fan of Ocean, but I'm sort of into those hippy names

odell

Not a big fan of "o" names
Ofelia is the accepted spelling in Spanish. It would still be pronounced the same in English with an "f," but with a "ph" in Spanish, it makes no sense whatsoever. In any event, I feel like it's too matchy with Amalia.
