Long story short (full post of worse doctors visit i've ever read on here available on 3rd tri board) my doc told me today my cervix is unfavorable and that the chances of my having this baby naturally are slim to none. He said he doubts pictocin would even cause this cervix to dilate. he wanted to set up an induction today for next week.. I said no...
I'm just curious, did anyone else hear something similar- then prove the doc dead wrong?
Re: did anyone's doctors give them 0 hope- and you proved them wrong?
ANYTHING can happen!! Hang in there. I had an appt on a Monday morning, had not made any progress in weeks, was told to plan to go all the way to 42w and my water broke at 6am Tuesday morning.
Good luck!
ETA: If you are so unfavorable why would he even want to talk induction?
I have not personally had this happen to me, but I've heard the story a million times. Quite honestly I do not understand why doctors make these kinds of predictions. Do you have some kind of unusual medical problem or is it just that you haven't progressed at 39 weeks? I have heard of people who have no progress until 40+ weeks and then go on to deliver without being induced.
I did have a midwife tell me kind of snarkily that she'd see me at my appointment next week, when I wondered about the on call schedule for that weekend in case I went into labor. Guess what - I went into labor. They don't know all, even though they want you to think so
You're unfavorable but your dr wants to schedule an induction? I'd say no thanks too.
I didn't make any progress until 40 weeks this time around. Even then DS2 didn't make an effort to come until after 41 weeks. Even that was after trying everything under the sun and walking 2.5 miles a day. There is plenty of time for you to progress on your own. Scheduling an induction now is just setting yourself up for failure.
