Anyone who is PG please stop reading. I will feel bad if this makes you feel bad.
My sister lost a baby last November at 19 weeks. At her 18 week u/s they found out she was 4 centimeters dialated. No reason for it, no contractions, nothing. A week later she delivered. After that she had lots of other complications. She's had every test known and they can not find a reason for it happening.
So, she is PG again, due in July. She is 19 weeks and today they are seeing her cervix is shortening (I'm not sure if it is open yet, I haven't talked to her just my mom). They are admitting her to the hospital and doing a cerglage (sp?). Not sure what they will do next. I'm just shaking that they are going through this again and I'm hoping and praying for a different outcome.
I'm begging for any T&P's you can give please.
Re: I need as many T&P's as you can spare please.
Chances are she will go on strict bed rest after the cerclage and get weekly cervix checks.
Sending you P&T..
T&P
Try not to worry. I had a cerclage with DS2, was high risk, at the Dr every week, lots of fears he would be born too soon....but as you can see he is now a happy, healthy 2 year old who was born at 38 weeks.

Thank you so much everyone. I really, really appreciate it. I just can't believe it. I feel so bad for my sister and BIL.
Belle, she has been having weekly cervix checks the last few weeks to check for this. Luckily this is how they found out and are hoping they found out early enough to do something about it. I'm guessing she will be on strick bed rest too.
Also, anyone who is my FB friend (there are only 2) please don't say anything on there. Most of my family (all out of state) don't even know she is PG. Thanks!
It sounds like cervical incompetence. Alot of times a rescue cerclage helps and with bedrest she may have a good outcome. Praying for her.
Your sister is in my thoughts and prayers.
My MIL lost 3 babies in the '70's from IC and went on to have 2 more healthy babies after drs started using the cerclage procedure. Your sister's drs know that they need to keep an eye out for preterm labor and I'll bet the outcome is much happier this time!
