Pregnant after a Loss

for those pregnant after recurrent miscarrriages..

Did you have more or more intense symptoms (morning sickness, breast pain, saliva, etc.) during the first few weeks of your successful pregnancy?

What feelings were different with your successful pregnancy?

Re: for those pregnant after recurrent miscarrriages..

  • I dont have the answer for you but I believe that we have the same EDD in Oct.....

  • My pg symptoms were pretty much the same each time, only this last baby was/is sticky.  (4 pregnancies, 3 losses.)  I had the same worries/fears w/each pregnancy, but truly cherished each milestone as it came  (Ex. seeing & hearing the HB for the 1st time, making it past the 1st tri, receiving a good report at the 20 wk u/s, etc.) Time does make things a little easier, but it's admittedly hard not to worry when you've suffered through a prior loss.

I hope this is your sticky baby too!

  • This pregnancy is so much more intense. I have way more symptoms, and every symptom is soooo much stronger. One major difference was morning sickness - with my first two, it was barely noticeable, and with this one I seriously thought I was going to die on some days. My OBGYN says that's a very good sign. :)
  • I'm still not ready to call this a "success".  I am still a little paranoid.  With this pregnancy, my symptoms are MUCH stronger.  Yet I love every pukey moment!

  • Im definately sicker and have more fatigue with this pregnancy (13 weeks tomorrow) than my last three that ended in miscarriage. It all started right at 5 weeks.
  • I havent noticed a difference in symptoms. With this one I was very very tired in the beginning, but with some of my losses I had strong symptoms too. Every pregnancy is different.
  • I had 3 miscarriages and finally this successful one. With the 3, I felt like I had stronger symptoms right away. With this one, I knew I was pregnant because I was tired and very dizzy right before I got the BFP but then had no symptoms for a long time. I was just very hungry in the beginning and never was that exhausted.

  • Interestingly, I felt less symptoms this time and I have made it it to almost 13wks whereas on my last m/c at 8wk, I felt like I had stronger symptoms even up through the day of my D&C.  It has actually made me really nervous. The only thing that I can honestly say was finally different is that they found a heartbeat at 6w3d. Good luck!
  • I actually had less symptoms this time around. With my 1st two pregnancies, I had early m/cs but lots of symptoms just before AF was even due to show up.

  • I have fewer symptoms. I am not sick this time at all and less tired. The only symptoms I seem to have are the ones brought on by the prometrium- those are more intense but I don't count them. For instance, at 5 weeks, I had already grown a full cup size and I get very dopey from the meds. My other pregnancies were terrible and I actually lost weight. This time I am gaining. I also have had significant cramps this time around as well. But over all, a much easier pg aside from the anxiety.

  • With this pregnancy I had m/s before I even knew I was pg!  I have had really strong m/s, bb's hurt, extremely tired and nauseous.  My symptoms have definitely been way stronger with this one than the other three I lost..

I dont call my pg successful until I deliver this baby healthy!

  • I actually had fewer symptoms this time around.

With my two losses I knew I was PG right away - I just *knew*, and I felt pregnant instantly.  The first was ectopic and the second was an early natural m/c.

This time, we weren't trying and I didn't believe DH when he told me I was pregnant and I needed to take a test.  I didn't even believe the tests (I took 5).  I didn't start to "feel" pregnant at all until about 8 weeks.

  • I think everyone will have a different answer. For me, symptoms were actually strongest with the second m/c, 5wks of intense m/s that meds didn't help. With this being my 3rd time going through 1st tri, I feel I can definitely attest that every pregnancy is simply different. The one thing different this time is I'm simply more assertive in asking my OB for monitoring and I got a doppler for home hb checks. Otherwise it really is the same roller coaster of emotions and concerns, but it's getting better with each week we keep seeing good news. Good luck!

  • I had m/s with all my pregnancies but with my miscarriages I had a weird metallic taste in my mouth all day.  Everything else was the same except that.  I have no idea if there is any significance to this- prob not but that was the only difference.
  • I had two miscarriages before this pregnancy. Each pregnancy has been different in the symptoms presented, and the intensity of the symptoms. There was not really anything that makes me think my symptoms pointed to the fact that this one was going to be successful.

It is really true...each pregnancy is different!

  • I lost two babies before having my daughter and lost another before becoming pregnant this time.

My symptoms were the same with my first three pregnancies. Sore breasts were my first indication that I might be pregnant.  I had sore breasts at about 5-7 DPO with all three.  I had minimal nausea.  I also spotted/bled with the first three, including my sticky.

My fourth pregnancy my breasts didn't hurt at all but I had all day sickness from the beginning.  We knew very early (6 weeks) that it was a blighted ovum but I held out until 11 weeks for a natural miscarriage because I had a negative experience with the D&C after my second loss.  I was sick the entire time even though I knew it was a doomed pregnancy.  It sucked.  Also, I had no spotting.

This pregnancy is like the fourth one.  I am sick ALL of the time.  I have had mildly sore breasts but that only started this week at 9 weeks.  So far, it seems sticky even though I bled this week.  The baby has a strong heartbeat and is so far measuring right on track.

I guess for me, it doesn't matter if it is a sticky pregnancy or not. All my pregnancies have had symptoms and they seem to occur whether the pregnancy is progressing or not.  I am so thankful for ultrasounds because the last pregnancy would have been so much more of a mind screw if I thought it was going well the whole time.  I was SO sick.  Sucked.
