Baby Shower...

So MIL informed me tonight that they are throwing a separate shower for me. I think it's nice... however she let me know that she is planning on inviting people that knew dh as a kid.. and GMIL is planning on inviting her old people friends. I feel weird about it because I am  essentially going to be opening gifts from NO one I know except his 2 aunts, mom and grandma. I feel awkward about it. I wonder if I could bring my sister or a friend so I  felt more comfortable.

I don't think it would be unreasonable for you to bring a friend or your sister there.  Good luck!

I asked that my BFF be invited to each shower I had.  It made things less awkward.
