She is about my age and has a DD a little younger than mine. Apparently, she left work around 2 today because her kitchen was on fire. Turns out her whole damn house burned down! Something about her DH put out dinner and thinks he accidently turned on the stove. He went outside to do something after that. Apparently he saw the fire and tried to put it out with a garden hose and even had neighbors helping. I'm not sure who called her. She got there (which takes 10-15 min from our school) and it took the fire dept another 20 min to get there. They have a strictly volunteer fire dept. My heart breaks for them. If the fire dept got there sooner, I would think it could have been restricted to the kitchen. The person who called me lives near them and saw it. She said the roof is completely gone, a firefighter fell through one floor (ok BTW), and the only stuff they could even salvage was in the basement. I'm so glad that they are all ok. I think though of everything they lost-photographs, she handmade almost all of her DD's clothes, etc and I just want to cry for them. Ugh. We are going to get together at work and see how we can help.
