I have always hated being called different variations of my name. My whole life I have gotten everything from Deena, Donna, Diana, Daina etc. When I was about 13 I started spelling my name DeAnna so that the capital A would hint to the proper way to pronounce it: Dee-anna.
So I work with a few older ladies and one of them is named Diane. She cannot get my name right EVER and it drives me crazy.
The worst part? She calls me DIANE. I always want to say "Diane is YOUR name, not mine!"
I know it is stupid but it annoys me.
Re: This annoys me
Misspelling and mispronunciation of a name annoys me to no end--and it rarely happens to ME. This is why my children will have normal(ish) names with proper usage of Y, E, and I.
And even then, it's still iffy.
Some people are just stupid.
It drives me crazy when people don't care enough to pronounce a name correctly. I have a customer whose name is Helene and she was so excited when I didn't call her Helen. DeAnna is not hard.

Yes, I know this frustration well. Somehow people manage to turn Griffen into:
Kristin
Christian
Kriften
Muffin
Gretel
Grissen
and once even Gristle. Yes, they thought my parents named me after the nasty part of meat.
One of my managers is notorious for this. We have a lot of people with names that are not "traditional, Protestant Anglo-Saxon" names, and she butchers their names without a care in the world and makes no attempt to correct it.
"Suganda" is not pronounced "See-gundy", even if it isn't a name you're familiar with. ::head desk::
I feel your pain - and I would say something. I am CONSTANTLY called Diane and it drives.me.nuts.
It's one more syllable people!!
People have called me Allison hundreds of times. Even in the 2nd grade, I used to ask: Do YOU see an N at the end of my name?
