Babies: 0 - 3 Months

How much time do you spend soothing your baby?

I feel like all I do is feed him and then rock him for an hour in front of the stove (with the exhaust fan on)...rinse and repeat.  Sometimes it will put him to sleep, many times not.  Seriously....over half of my day is spent standing in the kitchen with him and it's exhausting!  Anyone else with me?

  • Not much. He only really cries when he's hungry or has a poopy diaper. His bewitching hour is from 9-10pm, and he fusses pretty consistantly then he falls asleep and is out for hours. During the day he's very happy to play not only independantly but quietly with me, etc.

  • Me or my husband do spend a good amount of time soothing our newborn too - I'm hoping it gets better!  It isn't after every feeding, maybe 1/3 of the time or so?  Usually when she's in cluster feed mode.  I'm very jealous of people who have "easy" newborns who just eat and sleep every 3 hours like clockwork and that's it!
  • Try a blowdryer instead of the exhaust fan; much more portable!

  • Do you think your LO could have colic? Signs are crying for more than three hours in a row on three or more days a week for at least three weeks. It can start at 3 weeks... GL
