I'm freaking out.

I'm sitting in our living room and I saw something on our patio out of the corner of my eye.  A few minutes went by, and I saw a few people through our blinds and got up to look out there because there are never people out back (there's an alley behind our place, which dead ends one door down because there's another row house perpendicular to ours there).

While I was standing there, a cop came down the stairs onto our patio.  I cracked open our door and asked what was going on.  As I asked, he lifted up the cover to our patio table and looked under it.  He said, "I don't want to alarm you, but we're looking for a suspect who is trapped in the alley."  I closed the door and turned the alarm on.  He apparently didn't find the suspect under our table, and then they went up to our neighbors' patios to look. 

Dude.  He didn't check under our grill cover.  I saw a flash of something on our before the cops got here, which is started paying attention in the first place.  I saw a flash of white.  The cops are in black and yellow.

I'm totally scared that the suspect is under our grill cover.

That is very very very scary. I woudl be freaking too. How ,uch longer are you alone for?

call the non emergency line at your department.  The dispatcher can radio to the officers out there to check there for you.

If you have outside lights, flash them to get the cops' attention and suggest they look under the cover. I hope they find him quickly and that you are able to feel safe.

We don't have any guns, but DH did tell me to offer the cops our "Welcome Hammer."

The fact of the matter is we have bars on our windows and back door.  Nobody is getting in here.  It's still freaky, though.

Not at all!  The only difference is that I would also have one of my dogs that is trained in personal protection at a down stay next to me!

DH has some pretty big guns, I don't really know how to use any of them but I can hold them. I do know how to use his pellet gun (that can't even kill a rabbit) but that one would do nothing for me.
