Growth spurt?

So my lo is 7 weeks old and she normally eats every 3.5-4 hrs. Today she ate and then 2 hrs later she was crying. It didnt look like gas so I gave her pacifier and she just chewing more and more and spitting it our and crying. So I assumed she was hungry again and it was a growth spurt. I am just nervous that what if she wasnt hungry and was just over tired and I am over feeding her. She did drink all 4 oz though. Its so hard to tell the diff cries still. Anyone going thru this right now?

Re: Growth spurt?

  • YES! Actually, ours just ended and it did start around 7 weeks.  I was nursing and pumping literally all day to keep up with both of them.  A couple times, they each took 3 oz every hour for 3 hours in a row.  Good news is it only lasts for a few days.

Oh and don't worry about overfeeding.  If your baby is rooting for food and doesn't spit it up, chances are she is hungry!

  • Sounds like a growth spurt to me! My DS just went through one! I don't think your LO would have drank a full 4oz if they weren't hungry! My DS won't even let the nipple of a bottle go in his mouth if he isn't hungry! He knows the difference between the paci and bottle nipple so he'll open right up for the paci if he's not hungry!
  • The past couple nights DS seems to want to nurse every hour on the hour until about 2 or 3am.
  • Yup, Ds just turned 7 weeks yesterday and he's definitely wanting more "yum-yums". I don't know where he's putting it.
