I just heard about this! I don't live in Chicago, but it was felt in my area. It fairly uncommon, but we did have one in 2008 that was 5.2

OMG.   That's so scary! I hope every is ok.  :-)

We're on a huge fault line too, so now I'm freaked out that we're going to get one.  It seems like earthquakes are happening all over right now.

Thats when the last one was.  I was trying to figure it out.  I knew it was just a few years agao.

Wow! That's crazy. It does seem like they're cropping up everywhere! I know that California and Japan are both somewhat overdue for "the big one." And then poor Haiti...

I didn't feel anything but that is kind of scary.  Apparently Chicago sits on a large (inactive) fault line.  If it became active that would be BAD.

My mom told me about this.  She said the epicenter was in Sycamore which is outside of the city.  I remember on when I was home one summer too (not the 08 one).  Freaked me out!  NOT something you expect there.

We slept through it and didn't feel anything, but people I've talked to who felt it said they thought a big truck was going by.
