NTR - Talk to me about laptops, please. :)

I use a desktop. DH has a laptop, but he's not big on sharing. He wants to buy me my own, but I'm not wanting to needlessly spend money.

But I'm I really think I need one - I'm going to school now and it is totally different from when i went in 03-04. All of my classes have stuff on the website, and all of my college algebra work, incl. tests is online. It's near impossible to really study with DD in the room, and I can only get so much done after 8pm.

So WDYT? Should I go for it? Any recs that are a decent price?

  • I loved my desk top but having a laptop has worked wonders. I would bring it up to bed and lay down with the Laptop. It would be great going back to school. I'd say go for it

  • I love my laptop that I have now.  It is a Mac.  I had a desktop while in college and if I had to do it all over again, I would spend the extra cash on a laptop.  It is wonderful  to be able to take it wherever I'm going and I usually bump from it while nursing DD.
  • If it's for school, then I agree that your own would be nice.  I bought mine for grad school.  I ended up putting school on hold to stay home with DD.  It was so handy for that semester, though.

DH and I both wish we had a desktop and not two laptops, but I'll definitely be using my laptop when I head back to school.  I have a MacBook and LOVE it.

  • I bought a Toshiba (Satellite A505) in Oct and I love it.

We'd be keeping the desktop. It's about 6 years old, so it's not like we'd get much resale value on it or anything.

  • All I can tell you is do not buy a HP laptop, they are the worst. My husband used to work for HP and says that the quality has really gone down.
