how long with a cough before seeing the pedi?

He just started late yesterday with it and has no other symptoms (i.e. fever). He is congested a bit but otherwise seems ok. I never know how quickly to jump on these things or if we're overreacting.

After 3 days of really bad coughing I brought my LO in and thank god I did.. he had no other signs then a cough but it ended up being pneumonia. He sounded terrible. Good Luck with your LO.

pedi told us to call back if it lasted over a week. Took her in today on day 8 and it's just a chest cold.

If its a deep, phlemy cough, I'd take DC in. If its just a little cough then I'd wait to see if other symptoms develop.

I tend to be pretty laidback about these things... Lyla had a cough that lasted 2+ weeks, but since it was gradually subsiding, I didn't bother calling the pedi. If it ever started to get worse (or the fever came back), I would have brought her in.
