Babies on the Brain

Whine whine whine

just ignore me if you want.

I've been having "prelabor" for the last 3 weeks.  It consists of hours (and hours and hours) of contrax between 3 - 5 or 8-10 mins apart depending on the day.  They hurt, but aren't super painful.  And then, they stop.  They're doing something b/c I'm 3cm, but honestly, I wish they'd go full force or just stop all together.

3 weeks is a long time to practice this labor thing.  And last night it didn't stop until 4:30am.

I know I should be patient, she won't be in there forever, yada yada yada

I'm not all that uncomfortable. She can stay.  But my ute needs to get a grip one way or the other.

Gah!

  • I went through the exact same thing you're describing for 2 weeks before real labor started.  The way I knew it was real labor was b/c I thought I had a bad stomach ache (like had to poop), but when I went, I lost my MP instead and then real contractions started and I went to dr and was 4cm dilated.  I know its hard to be patient, but I think it'll happen soon for you.  I was 40 weeks 2 days when I delivered.

  • I lost my MP several weeks ago.  I'm afraid I'm going to miss it or wait too long, b/c I'm so used to my body crying "wolf!"  I don't know how I'll tell the real thing from the practice at this point.

Someone should tell my ute teasing isn't nice.

  • I thought I had lost mine a few weeks before too, but it was nothing like what came out the day I was in real labor.  Have you had any blood yet?  That was also a sign for me that it was real.  Can't wait to see Elena.

  • I've had blood and bloody mucus off and on for 2 weeks.

I guess this is just the first in many tests of my patience.  ha.

  • I know exactly how you feel.  I was the same way and ended up having to be induced.  The only thing I can tell you is that I had a relatively short and easy labor (induced at 7:30am and had him at 3:50 pm) and required very little pitocin once things were rolling.  My body was ready, it just didn't know how to hit the Go button.

*Not saying you will have to be induced - just saying that hopefully it will go easily and smoothly once you do go into labor.

    :hugs:

  • Oh wow, poor girl. I wish you best of luck, and I predict you'll wake up in the middle of the night TOMORROW night...and you'll just know!

  • I hope you're both right.

But, I hope that with this huge snow storm we're supposed to get, that if it is time, my water will break or something else big will happen so I know its real and don't wait too long.

Armandos, she offered induction at my appt yesterday.  I must've sounded frustrated.  She said she didn't think they'd have to give me much push, as my body is working pretty well on its own.  I opted to wait until next week and see what happens.

  • Oh, honey, I had the same thing and it is SO FRUSTRATING. They don't "hurt" persay, but they are terribly distracting and take a lot of energy. Make sure you get enough sleep, when my midwife insisted I take some Tylenol PM and get some rest it really helped.

    Come out, babyspikette! Come out!
