NTR: building a house/selling

Unfortunately we probably would not be looking into moving/building for another 3 years or so....I wish sooner!  My original plan was to stay in our current home 5 years, we are going into our 4th as of October.

We have done some updates/remodels since moving in, but i was wondering if it would be ridiculous or premature to ask the realtor who helped us find our house to come this summer and take a look around and see if she can give us suggestions for improvements we could do over the next few years to boost the price without spending a boat load of $$?  I am not even sure that realtor is really the one to ask, but I had no idea of who else.

Again I know it seems premature, but depending on what we may need/should do, it is nice to have the time to work on it/save.

Suggestions?

  • I think this is a great idea, I would assume that whatever realtor you ask for help would be the one you would use to sell though!

  • I'm sure if you look at home magazines they are always telling you what upgrades to do and which ones to skip.  I know curb appeal is a huge one, same with kitchens.  I think This Old House has a section about this topic.
  • Kitchens and bathrooms sell a house. Also try to make things neutral, like paint color and flooring. Curb appeal definitely gets people into you house.
