Not calling anyone in particuar out on it. I've just seen it MANY times in the last few days, and it's a common mistake in my area that just makes my skin crawl.
BATH is not a verb. You can't "bath" something. It's "bathe." Much like you can't breath in and out, but you can breathe.
I hear this 2694 times a day in real life and every single time, I want to slap the person on the back of the head a la NCIS.
Re: Pet Peeve
DH and I make many words into verbs that shouldn't be because we're lazy.
He's an English teacher so I love to use words like "littler" around him and watch him spasm.
I'll see your BATH and BREATH and raise you a LOOSE for LOSE.
Adding on:
rIdiculous. RIdiculous. No e.
This! I've never heard it said like that before.
Oh, it happens. It happens a lot. "I have to bath the kids." "I went to bath the dog." Aaarrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!
What, like when people loose weight? Wouldn't that be cool? If you could just drive out to Yellowstone and set your cellulite free?
