NTR: Speedlight for the Nikon D40?

Anyone have one? Are they easy to use? I keep reading about "bouncing flashes" for indoor pics - I am clearly a novice at photo taking but I am interested in buying on of these if it makes indoor pictures that much better.  Since most pictures are indoors with this awful weather we have been having!

    I have a Nikon speedlight.  It has a little bit of a learning curve, but it's easy once you figure it out.  My pictures are sooo much better with it than on-camera flash.

    You'll want a cable to take it off-camera.
