On friday my boss pulled me into his office at the beginning of my shift and told me "we are going in a different direction so we no longer need you".  First of i was shocked because i have never done anything wrong and have never had a write up.  I am curious if any of you know if this is legal or not or where I can go to find it out.  Thanks for helping me out.

However, Wisconsin is an at will employment state.  You can be fired for any reason or no reason, as long as it's not a discriminatory reason (i.e., due to gender, race, pregnancy, etc.).  It sounds like your position was eliminated.  I doubt you have any legal recourse.

thanks for the help. just same added info my position was not eliminated since i was the full time night bartender.  i know i was not under contract it just didnt seem right for what the company did.  the unemployment office actually laughed at the reason i was given for being fired
