You know - like how to pronounce it, where in a store I'd find out, how to serve it. We went to lunch w/ a friend and her LO today, and my friend ordered a side of edamame. D tried it for the first time, and he loved those beans! But clearly I know nothing about them. Please inform me.
Re: Tell me about Edamame
Ed-u-mommy...
DD LOVES them too. You can get cheap frozen bags at Trader Joes and then microwave or boil them. Also if you have a Japanese food market nearby...maybe that's just my neighborhood
I think you say it ed-ah-MOM-ee...
It's just raw soybeans I think! They have it in the fresh veggies section and also frozen here at our Wegmans!
HTH!
Ohhh I love Edamame. It's pretty phonetic, but with your best asian accent. LOL
I've seen them in the freezer section of our grocery store. They have an actual "asian" section and that's where I find them.
I've never thought to give them to Sammie before. Did you squeeze them out of the pod first?
like how to pronounce it - - Eh - da - ma - may
where in a store I'd find out, - organic frozen food section
how to serve it. - I've had it a bunch of ways...frozen/cold, warm, room temperature.
They weren't in the pod. My friend's LO couldn't shove them in her mouth fast enough, and D kept trying to steal them. Apparently they are delicious, LOL. I had never even really heard of them!
ed-ah-mah-may
Love it! DS loves to squeeze the beans out of the pod.
ed-du-mah-mey
it's steamed soy beans. and muy delicious! it's a staple around here!
Make sure you buy the package that says "shelled," so they're not in the pod. Taking them out of the pod is too much work for a little one!
I like to toss them with soba noodles and sliced cooked carrots for DD.
they are just fresh soybeans as someone mentioned. you can get them in the frozen veggie section of the grocery store. just boil, steam or microwave and enjoy!
great for snack or side dish.
Same here! DS and I shared some for snack today. He calls them "emmlymommy" or "fwish beans" because he "fwish"es (squishes) them out into his hand.
We get them at Trader Joe's.
