Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I think I've created a monster.

Literally, lol.

DS has become obsessed with Elmo.  He's figured out that, OMG!, sometimes Elmo is actually on his TV talking to him.  And that it usually happens right after he eats breakfast (aka 9am when "Sesame Street" comes on).

At random times of day & night he already comes over and hands us the remote, points to the TV and asks for Elmo.  Today he picked at breakfast, then was in a big hurry to get out of his seat - then he ran into the living room, climbed up on the couch and pointed imperiously at the TV demanding "Mo-Mo".

Gah!  This is how it begins, right?

  • What is it about that little red monster?

DD is a freaking Elmo nut. She loves him and Dora. I think it's hilarious that Momo is the universal toddler word for Elmo. We have her elmo doll that she takes everywhere and all the other toddlers call out "momo" when they see him.Haha

  • DS does this with Backyardigans, which we have DVR'ed and on my laptop.  It used to be we'd asked if he wanted to watch them and he'd go "dododo" and dance a little.

Now he is asking for "Pablo" all the time.

  • This is DD w/ yo gabba gabba. Every day at lunch time. As soon as I put it on she says "gabba" and starts jumping up & down & names them & absolutely screams "moono!" It's only an hour a day....it could be worse I suppose. Plus now I have figured that I can do a big mommy no no & feed her in front of the TV.

She'll eat nearly anything I give her. If you have a picky eater you may be able to work this to your advantage. She ate chicken, green beans & blueberries for lunch today! I thank Gabba for that LOL. I typically can't get this kid to eat a meal, it always ends up on the floor. Thanks moono! LOL.

I know, right?  We were making DS perform the other night in front of the inlaws, showing us all the body parts he knows.  My MIL called out "where's your elbow Eli?"  His face totally lit up and he cried out "Mo-Mo!".  No honey - ELBOW, not ELMO.

  • I have no idea what the big deal is with Elmo. It's like he has secret baby-attracting powers, or something.
I was in love with Cookie Monster when I was Q's age. Now that I think about it, I think I was more in love with the actual cookies he ate.
