Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

S/O: How big is your yard?

While it would be nice to have a bigger house, I would really like a bigger yard.  We have .19 acres right now.  Postage stamp.  Our neighbors fences have provided us with a privacy fence, but there's really not much playroom for the kids with the deck and shed.

I'd love a bigger yard!  Then, I wouldn't feel guilty about getting a big dog.

  • 0.29 acres. But that's split evenly between the house, the front yard, and the backyard. So our backyard is a long sliver of green. I also would like a bigger yard.

  • Our yard is huge, not sure of the exact acreage but it's super big.  My dh won't move to another house unless the yard is just as big as ours now but we really don't need a yard that big.  It's nice for summer parties but we only utilize it 4-5 months out of the year.

However I have 2 large dogs that need to run so we'll always need a bigger yard.

  • .39 acre.... pretty big considering we live smack in the middle of the city :)

We have a green belt behind us, so it appears bigger.  A big yard was #1 for us when we were house hunting.  We turned down a lot of lovely homes bc the yard was too small.

  • .5 acre. It's a corner lot and I love that we have a large yard. Our front yard is huge with tons of trees and our backyard is nice sized, but I wish we had the larger backyard with the trees since it's fenced in. We can't spend too much time out front until DS learns not to run in the street.

When we were buying a house I didn't care about a big yard- that was all DH. Now I'm so glad he wanted that because we spend tons of time outside in the spring and summer here in Texas.

  • 2 acres. I really love having the space.
  • We don't have a yard, we live in a Townhouse.  We plan on moving in the next year or so.  I really don't want a big yard, just big enough for a swing set and a deck/patio.
  • I think out entire lot including house is around 0.15 acres. tiny...and we're in the suburbs!  But we have the corner lot so we have a lot of usable space...it feels bigger than it is.

  • our lot is just under half acre.  We have a good sized front yard but the back yard is huge!  And flat, with four huge trees.  I LOVE our backyard.  It was the deciding factor when we were house hunting.  And when it is nice, Sam and I spend almost all day playing in back.
  • We have an .5 acre.  We've got three dogs and will always have to have at least that much fenced area.  This is probably the smallest we will go.

There is some good in not having the upkeep of all that, as long as you have park space nearby.  Maybe take some time to look around for a good playing place for LO and yourself.  I think it's a trade off.  We had to spend a small fortune fencing all of ours in after we moved in.

  • Our total lot is .89 acres.  I consider that to be pretty big since we are in city limits.  The only problem is that it is a long lot, not wide, and half of the back yard is actually wooded.  The woods are nice for privacy but it's not usable space.
  • We a 1 acre lot, but we are surrounded by 180 acres of conservation land.
  • 1/3 of an acre.  In our last house it was .16 so this one feels huge to us.

However, I grew up having 40 and will definitely miss that when the kids get older.

  • An acre. But I wish it wasn't sloped the way it is.
