Britax Frontier OR Safety 1st GO hybrid booster

I was debating for WEEKS over the britax frontier or the graco nautilus and finally decided on the frontier... I ordered it yesterday from rightstart for $207 -- a great price!

Anyway, I was just talking to some friends and they mentioned the Safety 1st GO hybrid booster. I looked it up online and can't seem to find much info on it comparison wise to the Frontier. Both seem like similar seats, but the GO is over 10 lbs lighter (easier to take in and out of car) and is 3" narrower (I'd love the extra room in my back row!).

My Frontier still hasn't shipped yet so I'm debating switching it for the Safety 1st GO. Anyone have any experience with it?

Re: Britax Frontier OR Safety 1st GO hybrid booster

  • Frontier, hands down. The safety first go (used to be safeguard go if you're interested in finding more reviews--it just changed to safety first recently) has much lower top harness slots, and doesn't offer any side impact protection. Also, it requires use of vehicle headrest. The frontier is a much better booster (it's the tallest booster on the market). I wouldn't consider the go hybrid for a single second.
  • after much debate we got the Frontier.happy with it.

my ONLY complaint is that the straps twist. drives me bonkers.

  • I wouldn't suggest the GO for an every day use seat. If it's going to be a spare, fine. But the GO itself as an every day use seat isn't very comfortable or supportive. My coworker's wife got one instead of another seat I recommended to her, and they wound up buying a new seat like 2 months later because their son (4.5 at the time) hated it).

  • I have to disagree.  I have the original ones (the Safeguard go).  I love the seat, I have four of them. We got one as a 2nd seat, for travel and use in my mom's car for my DD.  She loved it, so I got more as main seats.  My two oldest love them too.  Both were in Britax prior to that (my DD in a Marathon, my DS in a Roundabout).  I couldn't fit three seats across in my car with the Britax so I decided to go with the Safeguards.  You do need a headrest and tether option, so if your car does not have them, it may not be the right seat for you.  My DD is tall, always at the 80th %ile, she's almost 5 and has plenty of room at the top harnesses.  ALso, I can use it with my vehicle latch system for longer since the seat itself weight a good 10lbs less than others.  My DS transitioned to this seat when he was 2 1/2 and he also like it just fine.  Both kids have fallen asleep in them.

Their initial complaint was that they couldn't see as much, since they are much lower and the were used to sitting up higher with the Britax.
