WDYT about this?

I am starting to get nervous about what we are going to do with DD if I go into labor during the night.  2 ladies from her daycare have agreed to be on call people.  My 'BFFs' live in other states, my closest friend here just had a baby, so obviously she can't be 'on call', and our other 'play date' friends have babies at home too and work, so it would just be asking too much.

I am due on a Monday.  I am thinking about asking my parents to come the Friday before and then have my mom stay until I give birth (they live about 4 hours away, but plan to come when I go into labor anyway).

Thing is, my OB will let me go 10 days over before inducing.  I was going to ask her this week if she could decrease that to 5 days.  It would just be too much to ask my mom to stay for 10 days, plus the birth, plus a few days after.

As you can tell, I fully expect to be overdue this time around too!

Re: WDYT about this?

  • Wow 10 days seem like a lot (but maybe that's normal). I would ask for a decrease in days overdue too.

  • I would go with the DCP for the emergency call- and then call your parents at the same time, have them head down as soon as you call. That way DD's not with the DCP too long.

I can't call them in the middle of the night and have them head over, I would worry too much!  It's a 4-5 hour drive.

    this is what I'd do!

Don't worry- they'll be fine. Or they can head over first thing that morning...

I would still stick with this plan, but call your parents first thing in the morning, since you are worried about them driving at night. You'll want your mom around longer after the baby's born--at least that's what I would want!
  • Can you have a neighbor as a back-up person?  I had two neighbors who were willing to come over, leaving their H's at home with their kids, until my parents or sister could arrive.  I know it seems like a lot to ask but people like to help and you might not even need to call them (I didn't, ended up being induced).
